Today we will learn how to connect external wifi adapter in Kali Linux through our virtual box.
First we will require to buy a external wifi adapter. You can choose any from amazon as almost all works fine and as you are beginner no need to buy the expensive Alpha adaptors
How to connect external wifi adapter in Kali Linux step-by-step:
Connecting external adapter to system
First we will connect our external wifi adapter to our computer through its usb port
Mounting external adapter to VirtualBox
- Now we will launch our virtual box
- Select our virtual machine
- Click on settings
4. Now click on ports
5. Then click on USB option which is right to Serial port
6. Then click in green + sign on USB
7. Select your external wifi adapter and then click OK
NOTE
If you are not able to locate your external wifi adapter then just disconnect it click on list of usb and then again connect it to determine your adapter.
Configuring external adapter to virtual Kali Linux
1. Now launch your Kali Machine
2. Then Devices -> USB
3. Select your external wifi adapter
5. After selecting your external wifi adapter you will be able to see a tick ✅ marks before it.
NOTE
It the tick ✅ doesn’t appear then just disconnect and reconnect your external wifi adapter.
Checking the external adapter connectivity with our virtual machine
Now let's check if our external wifi adapter is working or not.
To so :
- Open terminal window
- Type command -> ifconfig
If you see see something like below then your wifi adapter is still not connected
First we will select our wifi network in kali linux
You can see a small box to upper right there you click and connect to your network
Once connected when you will type ifconfig you will be able to see wlan0. Thus you are connected with your external wifi adapter.
NOTE
If you are not able to see networks or not able to connect just restart your virtual kali machine and try again it should fix the issue.
